Joint effort of Braindrop and Prefere Resins for better fire safety!

Towards eco friendly flame retardant resins

Braindrop BV will start a pilot with Prefere Resins, which is one of the global market leaders in resins. Supplying a wide range of resins from 14 production sites worldwide, Prefere serves various sectors, including construction, textiles, coatings and/or pharma, etc.  In this pilot, Prefere will add Braindrop’s flame retardant (FR) TNF to their resins in order to improve their products’ flame retardancy in an eco-friendly manner.

R&D opportunity for Braindrop

As Braindrop is also seeking to research its fire protection solution in different kinds of resin applications, this pilot will provide Braindrop with a high quality opportunity to conduct tests with resins. Mustafa Torun, the director of Braindop BV said

During our pilots with various companies from especially forestry industry, we were frequently asked to provide a FR solution which directly complies with very different kind of resins used in their production lines. Since the resins used within the forestry industry vary so much, it was so hard to come up with a solution for each request. So this pilot will help us so much regarding at least the widely used resins in different industries.

Prefere Resins was in search for better flame retardancy

Prefere Resins was in search of better flame retardancy for their resins because of the increasing demand in various markets for especially eco-friendly FR solutions. Peter Lingenfelter, the construction segment Technology Manager of Prefere Resins, said that

In a wide variety of our markets, particularly in construction applications such as the panel industry, laminates, insulation and some others, we are seeing a constantly increasing demand for superior flame retardant products. To meet that demand, we are turning to Braindrop for their expertise in this area to help improve our products’ performance.

Market is suffering between toxic FRs and weak FRs!

“There are five classes of FRs in the market however we can simplify the classification down to 2 aspects: strength (or say resistance to fire) and eco friendliness” adds M. Torun and continues as “all FRs can be labeled as strong solutions like halogenated ones or say as nontoxic FRs like phosphorus based ones. There was no solution which is both as strong as the halogenated ones and also nontoxic. TNF is now combining this two most important aspects in one solution for the first time. Additionally, TNF can create a better effect with less than half of the amount of chemical compared to the best competitor’s product.”

Prefere Resins: A leading European manufacturer of thermoset resins and products based on methanol chemistry

The history of Prefere Resins, having more than €450M turnover in 2019, dates back to the beginning of 1900s. Today with his more than 600 employees Prefere serves the industries with 600kt annual production volume.

Braindrop creates the best firefighting chemical solution.

Every 88 sec one person dies because of fires. Around 3 million fires emit more than 70 million tons of CO2 every year. In addition to that, billions of dollars damage occurs to global economy annually. We not only lose lives and damage the environment but also lose prosperity and damage history with monuments burning.

With this competition, we will be able to showcase our solution and deploy the message of how important using eco-friendly FRs is for our daily lives.

Braindrop is a chemistry company creating the best firefighting solutions of the future. After founded in late 2017, we have been conducting several pilots with market leaders from Canada to Turkey and across the Europe.
